ABOUT ORIENT EXPRESS VINTAGE SILVER

Silver – Authentic antique silver pieces from India and Afghanistan

New silver handwork is not at all what it used to be, the old-world workmanship and life-markings on these unique pieces cannot be replicated.

These authentic vintage silver pieces were collected in India in the 1970's and 1980's at “street level” markets in Rajasthan, the desert state known as the “Land of Kings”.  They are good real silver but were made for local villagers, before the .925 stamp was in common use for export. They were much-loved and carry the rich patina of years of wear that cannot be imitated.  I have cleaned them lightly to maintain the dark oxidization that highlights their old textures.
