ABOUT Liz Reynolds - Metal Clay Artist & Instructor

"My two primary modes of artistic expression have always been clay and textiles. I’ve studied pottery and glaze chemistry and for a number of years made my living as a potter.

In 2004, I discovered metal clay. I was thrilled by the possibilities of constructing my jewelry using a variety of pottery hand-building techniques, adding pattern and texture associated with textiles, and then transforming the outcome into a variety of metals.

I am an accredited instructor for Hadar’s Clay (2014), although my repertoire includes a wide variety of fine silver, sterling silver and base metal clays.  I have been teaching introductory and project-based classes in metal clay in the Toronto area since 2010".

Note:  although my fabrication material is informally known as “metal clay” this really is a misnomer that often causes confusion…there is absolutely no clay involved. A better descriptor is malleable metal, or in technical terms powder metallurgy.

Care & Cleaning: your metal clay earrings have been transformed into metal, so treat as any handcrafted jewelry. Never wear your jewelry in the shower or in a swimming pool.  To clean, use any silver cleaning cloth and rub gently to restore shine, however, do not use any of the dipping cleaning solutions.
