About Turkmen jewelry, “from the area of Asia once known as West Turkestan, the nomadic tribal people have always invested their wealth in jewelry rather than property. Triangles and circles are widely used, the former invoking the aid of the ancient goddess while the latter calls on the power of the sun..blue stones such as lapis lazuli are considered proof against the evil eye”. From Craft Traditions of the World by Bryan and Polly Sentance.
ABOUT ORIENT EXPRESS VINTAGE SILVER RINGS
These authentic antique silver rings were collected in India in the 1970's and 1980's at “street level” markets in Rajasthan, the desert state known as the “Land of Kings”. They are good real silver but were made for local villagers, before the .925 stamp was in common use for export. They were much-loved and carry the rich patina of years of wear that cannot be imitated. I have cleaned them lightly to maintain the dark oxidization that highlights their old textures. Each is unique, please pay attention to the band size. I like to imagine the stories that the hands who wore them could tell..
